Piping CRN numbers can often be the
most complicated to obtain a CRN.
In addition to code requirements each
province has their own "ACT" which details
what needs to and what does not need to be CRN registered. As a minimum the manufacturer must have a quality system implemented that meets the requirements of CSA B51 or for manufacturers outside of Canada inspection must be performed by a State Boiler Inspector or Insurance Company Inspector, holding a National Board Commision. Outside of Canada the manufacturer alse needs to hold either a ASME U, S, PP stamp or ISO series certification or equivalent.
Design drawings should show as a minimum the following information:
Design drawings, pipe specifications and, depending on the province, calculations are to be submitted to the jurisdiction where the CRN is being applied for.
Pipe Specifications shall indicate:
PIPING CRN NUMBERS HAVE TO BE OBTAINED FOR EACH INSTALLATION.
